Our standards

Editorial Policy

Our goal is simple: financial information that is accurate, clear and genuinely useful — and that we'd trust ourselves.

Who makes our content

FinCalculators is produced by a team with backgrounds in personal finance, financial modelling and content. Our calculators are built on standard financial formulas (see our methodology) and our articles are written to explain the concepts behind them in plain language. We are an independent, education-first resource — not a bank, lender or brokerage.

How we research and write

  • We ground tools and articles in established financial principles and, where relevant, in figures published by authoritative sources such as the IRS.
  • We prioritise clarity. Every calculator explains how it works and shows the breakdown behind its result; every article aims to make a decision easier, not just hand you a number.
  • We avoid hype, jargon and false precision. When something is an estimate or depends on your situation, we say so.

How we review and verify

  • Our calculation engine is checked by an automated test suite, validating each formula against known values and edge cases.
  • Content is reviewed for accuracy and clarity before publication, and we correct errors promptly when they're found.
  • We update time-sensitive tools — particularly tax calculators — when the underlying figures change each year.

Independence and how we're funded

FinCalculators is free to use and supported by light, non-intrusive advertising and the occasional relevant partnership. Advertising never influences our calculations or the substance of our content. We never put a calculator behind a paywall, and we never sell the numbers you enter — they stay in your browser.

Not financial advice

Everything we publish is for general education. It is not personalized financial, tax or legal advice. For decisions that matter, consult a qualified professional. See our full disclaimer.

Corrections and feedback

Spotted something wrong, unclear or out of date? Tell us — we read every message and act on legitimate corrections quickly. Reader feedback is one of the main ways we improve.
