Frequently asked

Questions about the retirement planner calculator

Am I on track for retirement?

The calculator compares your projected savings against what you will need. A surplus means you are ahead; a shortfall shows the gap to close by saving more or adjusting your plan.

How much do I need to retire?

Enough to fund your desired income for your expected retirement length, after other income. The nest-egg figure shown is the present value of that income stream.

What if I have a shortfall?

Save more, work a bit longer, target a lower retirement income, or seek a higher return. Small increases early compound powerfully over the years to retirement.

Is the Retirement Planner Calculator free to use?

Yes. Every calculator on FinCalculators is completely free, with no sign-up, login or paywall. You can run as many scenarios as you like.
