Payroll Hourly Paycheck Calculator
Use this calculator to help you determine your paycheck for hourly wages.
How the payroll hourly paycheck calculator works
It multiplies your hourly rate by regular hours, adds overtime at 1.5×, then estimates income tax and FICA to convert the gross into take-home pay for the period.
Worked example: with hourly rate of $25, regular hours per period of 80 and income tax rate of 18.00%, the hourly paycheck calculator shows take-home pay of $1,487.00.
- Gross pay
- $2,000.00
- Income tax
- $360.00
- FICA
- $153.00
- Net pay
- $1,487.00
The formula
Gross = rate × hours + rate × 1.5 × overtime hours; net = gross − income tax − 7.65% FICA.

Questions about the payroll hourly paycheck calculator
How is overtime pay calculated?
Non-exempt employees earn at least 1.5× their regular rate for hours over 40 in a week. The calculator applies that time-and-a-half to your overtime hours.
Why is my take-home less than rate times hours?
Income tax and the 7.65% FICA payroll tax are withheld from gross pay, plus any benefit deductions. The calculator estimates the income tax and FICA portions.
Does this include state taxes?
It estimates federal income tax and FICA. State income tax, where it applies, would reduce take-home pay further and varies by state.
Is the Payroll Hourly Paycheck Calculator free to use?
Yes. Every calculator on FinCalculators is completely free, with no sign-up, login or paywall. You can run as many scenarios as you like.
